I do live in an HOA. Not really my first choice, but if you want to live in a nicer area of town, you live in an HOA.
Even if the HOA were to allow me to park my motorhome in my driveway, getting it into the driveway with the various neighbors cars parked on both sides of the street would be a challenge, plus I have about a 6 foot drop in a 35 foot driveway, which means I would have to chock the wheels and I would never be able to level it.
I can park on the street (city ordinances) for up to 3 days a month for loading/unloading, getting ready, etc, but don't like to leave it out there for too long for fear of some idiot side-swiping it.
My choice, even though it is a bit of a pain at times, is to store it in a lot that has a fence around it, is monitored with cameras 24/7 and is covered and away from harm. Also keeping in mind that if I had it at the house except when I am on the road, then the bad guys would be able to quickly figure out if I am home, or no a multi-week trip.
