Finding gas stops - any tricks?

Pick an area where you'll be needing to stop and use Google Earth or maps in satellite mode to look at the area. Try to find a station that has pumps parallel to the building and take the outside island.

I use Gas Buddy and Trucker Path both. In our area, the Pilot/Flying J is always more expensive than the station next to it. The diesel islands at these places are pretty disgusting.
