fire ban

just showed my wife your picture, she asked the question if you could cook hotdogs over it, and also for the grandkids, could it be turned down to do marshmallows. shows it will used about 20 hrs on 20Lb bottle.
with this I could take out the garbage can of wood.

op here. not arguing the validity of a fire ban or looking to get around it. I get it. they are sometimes necessary. I was asking for alternate things to do with frinds and little ones.

on a side note i don't understand camping without the desire for a campfire. to each their own but don't talk like im in the wrong for having a camp fire (when not banned) in a campground. you don't like it take your fancy rv elsewhere and let us campers camp.

Hey Mitch, that is a great campfire!!

You still get the smell of the great outdoors, have a consistent flame and heat. To me, best of all, you can enjoy the fire, without having to move away from the smoke.

We took a different approach to a camp fire. We like a fire some nights but it doesn't have to be big. Also don't care for a lot of smoke. We bought a Solo Titan Gasifier Stove. We care small chucks of lumber from under the table saw and supplement with twigs around the campsite if there are any. After about 5 minutes of burning there is almost no smoke. I can take, or leave, a campfire. When fire restrictions are active, we really don't miss having a fire. Instead, we'll play games, stare at the stars, or even turn-in a little earlier and get up a bit earlier the following day. If fires are allowed, we may have one and roast marshmallows, etc. There's so many other things to do, it really isn't a big deal.

For me, the joy in camping is exploring the trails (whether hiking or running them), watching the sunrise and set (especially love the sunrise), watching and listening to the various wildlife and just plain ol' hanging out with mother nature.

Honestly, not having a fire just makes one less thing to worry about.
