fire ban

My kind of camp fire. No smoke smell. I have a tough time breathing when smoke wafting in my face.

Well in today's world there's always thisan electric fire.

When we camped during a fire ban last summer, we played board games at the picnic table and pretended the lantern was a fire. We also went to bed a little earlier than usual.

We bought the propane campfire last year when we were having all the wildfires. Kids (adults now) with us at a campground for small family reunion. Ban on campfires but propane fire okay. They all enjoyed the smores and memories. I used one small cylinder..

Is the gas delivery orifice a fire ring or does it have some special burner orifice? What's underneath the log kit or glass beads?

To be honest, I am not sure. Mine is filled with vermiculite and has worked flawlessly every time, for over 8 years. I believe that I got mine on sale for around $89. Money well spent.

It doesn't put out a huge amount of heat like a wood fire, but it sure is easy to set up, start up and shut down.

We have roasted weenies and marshmallows over the thing in a pinch.

Not always. We were shut down from using an LP fire in a pit at Camano Island SP last year.

It's often up to the local ranger for interpretation and last year when the big ban hit We couldn't use an LP fire in any state park we went to. We could at Kachess campground which is a National Forest campground.

That is not always the case. During bans we sometimes have been able to use our LP campfire. It has sometimes created quite the stir as it looks a lot like a "real" campfire. Last year somebody called the fire department on us AFTER we have already got permission to use it. They came into our site, shook their heads and drove off.
