fire ban

camp fires are a major focal point on camping trips for us. my next trip is looking like it may be under a total fire ban. this makes me sad :(. anyone have any fun tips for evening socializing? will be going with some old coworkers and our children. several toddlers and 2 babies.

Does the fire ban include grills? You may be able to have a small wood fire in an elevated grill, like a classic Weber kettle charcoal grill. Try calling the campground and ask.
  • I would think if there is a ban on camp fires, it would include all open flames.

The ban sucks but, it's better than burning down thousands of acres and several homes.

Is there such a thing as an Electric/LED Camp Fire? It wouldn't be as neat but you would still have a focal point for the evening gathering.

I know, you can't make smores and hot dogs over a LED flame. :)
  • As an alternative, you can get a propane "fire in a can" and at least be able to make smors, or cook hot dogs, etc. But, if you do, you still need to check if it is ok to use one.
