A more philosophical entry today, perhaps. I have been on the edge of impatience today, so, since I don't want to be that way, I thought about why. As you know, preparing for something like this kind of a trip brings with it a measure of anxiety. Then, when we actually leave, the trip itself uses up some of that energy. Each type of landscape, be it seashore, mountains, desert, forests, or prairie is recommended by its advocates to provide relaxation for those who are stressed. So, it's obvious it is not which location we choose. It is a choice we make to relax.
I think back to what aggregated me so much this morning. My refrigerator doesn't work. My Dish satellite won't come on properly. These are not things that aid in my relaxation! They are the very things I should be running from, not stressing about. When I took a deep breath (and responded to my wife when she said "You better straighten out, or you won't get any supper!"), I knew what I had to do. I took a deep breath and relaxed! We're here! We have actually arrived! I don't have to be at warp speed anymore!
So my take away from today is that traveling for fun is every bit as much mental as physical. In fact, it may be more mental. If I intend to enjoy this lifestyle, I need to be aware of the signals before they make me unsafe for human company!
Be safe, my Compatriots! Pray for America!
