Another trick is to ask the vendor if there is a drop ship point near your location that they can ship too. You'll need the zip code of the area you're in to give to the vendor to do a lookup.
They will then ship it to that drop point, who will then hold it for you. Had to do this once with a replacement hot water heater control board while in a Missouri state park. Worked out surprisingly well.
