Great experience over the weekend for us corn and soy beans, Hoosiers. We have some friends, in Indiana, who have a lot of fun competing in rodeo events. We had an opportunity to attend a genuine Native American, "cowboy" rodeo in Casa Grande. The vast difference is that these guys actually use their skills in their everyday jobs. Out on the open range, if you want a bovine captured, you need a rope and a very smart horse! I love horses, anyway, and these are some of the smartest ones alive. I love watching the dancing horses from Austria, but these mostly quarter horses, seem to anticipate the steer's movements. It's hard to tell how much coaching they are getting from their riders, but it looks like they could cut calves from a herd alone, if need be.
Going to do some hiking today, and get ready to move this coming weekend to a new winter home away from home. Going to Lost Dutchman State Park, starting next week. People here say, "Oh, it's crowded, up there!" It has been kind of remote, here. We have to drive 20 miles to get milk. They do have some stuff closer, like ice and beer, so it's not totally in the "boonies"!
We are planning to get to a sale on Wednesday. Just a regular, "sell-some-cattle" to the guys who live here, but something extraordinary for us. Plus, they have a really 4 star cafe, from all reports. Combining two of my favorite things, eating and animals. Tree hugger, vegan spoiler alert! So here, we get to eat animals! Anyway, it should be fun.
Till next time, safe travels, Friends! Keep the shiny side up!
