Good morning from space 34 at Lost Dutchman! Waiting for 8AM so I can start the generator to run the coffee maker! Watching out the dinning window at the local wildlife. As active as the coyotes sound at night I'm amazed there are so many quail and rabbits. These don't appear to be jack rabbits with the huge ears, rather more like the cottontails from Indiana. And it's obvious, which quail gender wears the pants! The less colorful female, nearly always goes ahead, finding the path and the best food. The little guy, with his red accents and little black feather-bob over his beak follows along as best he can trying to keep up with Mama! Single guys (quail) like to hang out a lot in whatever passes for a tree branch, singing! It must be Karaoke wth little ear buds I can't see with my binoculars. They will sing for hours from the same spot. I think they are trying to attract a missus!
Hiked all over Silly Mountain, yesterday! We may go back today and do the base trail. Longer, but not so strenuous. Yesterday was just to prove we are not clear into the geriatric phase, just yet! I need to look up where the mountain got its name. Somebody probably looked around at all the others in the area and said, "It's Silly to call this a Mountain!" Only goes up a few hundred feet, but it does offer some nice views of Superstition Mountain and the valley to the west, toward Phoenix, and the burbs.
Have a great day, wherever you are, campers. Remember, we all like different things, so no one's choices are for everyone, and everyone has a right to choose their own path. Be Safe, Friends,
