First time I've seen Jackery offered at Costco

I was at Costco today in Hawai'i (Waipio location) and saw Jackery offered here for the very first time ever. The Jackery Explorer 1500 is being offered with 2 100W Solar Panels for $1899.99. I don't know if this is a good price or not but, generally speaking, things normally cost more here than on the mainland. Can anyone weigh in on whether this is a good deal or not?
  • Thanks to all who have responded so far. I'm really getting quite an education from your inputs.
  • You can get more AHs for the same money with a Lithium battery…solar panels too.
  • For the best price roll your own battery box / inverter charger. Panels can be had for under $1 per watt.
  • My thought is that the Jackery and their ilk are overpriced batter/inverter setups. It certainly will work for someone who wants an all-in-one solution that isn't as good as a DIY solution. The $1150 price is certainly closer to what one would pay for a DIY, but with no real information about the capacities of the Jackery, it's hard to say.

Personally if I wanted a battery backup, I'd source the batteries and inverter myself. Lithium batteries are certainly becoming less expensive.
  • It's a GREAT deal. The same straight from Jackery is $2699.00. We purchased the Explorer 1000 with two solar 100w panels from Jackery for $1600. It's a great product, we purchased it as a backup source of power for a CPAP. We've run a test at home using it to power a portable fridge - it ran it a little over a week (8 days) before needing recharged.

Note - I just got a Costco flyer that Nov 14 - Nov 18 on Costco.com only, the Jackery Explorer 290W and Explorer 880W Solar Generator Kit (with 4 solar panels) for $1149.00.
  • A sale is on now for the 1500 and 1 panel for $1999.99. So yes it is a better deal as the extra panel would sell for $300.
