Yes saddest day for me is when we pack up in mid Oct and head south out of Winterpeg. Haven't seen snow since Apr of 2004, except this spring when we came home in mid April to 4 ft of snow.
I let my nephew run my snow blower up and down my driveway 6-7 times a winter. He seems to enjoy it as much as I enjoy letting him do it. Can't say I miss -35c with a north wind blowing.

If it were just up to me (and it is not), I would spend winters in Michigan through February, and then hit the Florida state parks just for March and April. It's the length of Michigan winters that annoys me. March winds come in April, April showers come in May, and May's flowers are not 100-% safe from frost until almost Memorial Day.

But everything starts to green up nicely in Florida in March, and reservations at the more popular state parks are more easily obtained in April after many snowbirds have gone home to do their income taxes.

The first 20 years of my life was in mountains with lots of snow. The last 40 years in Florida. As my wife says: Snow is pretty only on TV." We don't miss it. But enjoy anyways.

I have been trying for years to visit every state park in Florida. I am up into the 60's but they keep adding and now there are more than 170! I will never make them all but it sure has been fun trying. BTW, the FSP just took over the venerated yet dilapidated tourist attraction of yesteryear, Silver Spgs, and made it the newst state park. Hopefully they will put some money in there and make it what it was years ago, a beautiful NATURAL attraction and remove all of the gimicky stuff added the last 30 years.

Hi I am over here on the west coast and have done some of the state parks nearby and am impressed with them, Being a fla resident and over 65 i get really good rates to camp and some with full hookups. Try oscar Shearer and Myaka river, and Koreshean, we enjoyed them. not Collier. Let us know about your travels and thanks for posting. Paul...

If you like Mayport, then you will love Kingsbay sub base campground, just do not use your GPS to get there. It will take you to the back gate which has been closed for years....
