I read that somewhere and put flea collars in a couple of compartments where bugs could enter; didn't get any wasp nests although I was definitely in an area that had wasps (mud daubers).
Did it help? Well, I didn't get any elephants either, so who knows.
I've since installed screens in the louvers plus in the water heater and furnace vents; my refrigerator has been perfectly happy in east Texas heat over 100F for days.
