I use the Pilot/Flying J just outside Lansing Mi on my way back from the races at MIS. They've charged now for a few years.
I just signed up for their rewards card and I can dump for 2 bucks.
As usual we seem to have the wrong rewards card. I think we pay 5 bucks.
Flying J "dump" is a good name for this particular place. Last time we were there, 1 dump didn't work (no notice) and 2 of the 3 water spigots didn't work. Place is a dump.
Are you talking about the one at the 96-69 interchange? Last time I was there, everything was very clean it seemed everything was working. Thenn went in to the Denny's and had a great country fried steak breakfast.
I like it. Its about half way home for me from the track. Gives the black tank some good sloshing on the road before I dump it. hahaha
That's the one. The conditions I described were there about 2 months ago. Was your visit prior, or have they fixed it since? - Tango__AE7UIExplorerOur local water district offers a free RV dump station.
2 lanes with potable water is needed.
Very clean, nicely landscaped and easy in and out.
May have to have to wait sometimes for 1-3 rigs to finish but it is worth it.
There are several locations in the Salt Lake Valley. - peaches_creamExplorerAs we all know, it's the "cheap b*****ds" who cause companies to stop offering free services. Years ago we operated a "full" service gas station. We cleaned windshields, guaged tires, check (water, oil, and battery water) on all our customers cars. I have saw people pull into our station, purchase $1 of gas, get all the services, and drive down the street to finish filling up their tank (station down the street offered no services but was 2 cents a gallon cheaper). They even bragged about it because they thought they were (smart). Now try to find a full service gas station. :S
- BCSnobExplorerWe had a clean-out, 20A outlet (RV plug), and silcock installed next to the RV parking pad when we built our previous house. Our current house does not have easy access to the septic system from the drive (across a drainage ditch, uphill, and at least 100' away) or the RV parking pad (about 300' away across 2 fences, several underground water lines, and a drainage ditch), the costs for building something far exceed years worth of a $5 dump fee. We'll continue to pay the $5 fee at Flying J on the way home from every trip.

Place is a dump. - W4RLRExplorerFlying J was sold to Pilot in a bankruptcy sale. Flying J tried fuel hedging in the futures market and lost their corporate shirt in the process. Pilot got Flying J cheap and then proceeded to remake the company. Gone were the Country Buffet restaurants, in came Denny's, out went free services and now everything has a charge affixed to it. Some things I like, some things I don't. I do miss the great breakfast buffets they used to have. Jay Call must be turning over in his grave over the present state of his company. The Haslam brothers have already been investigated over their company's preferential treatment of large accounts over small accounts in their fuel rebate program. I'm sure we have not heard the last about Flying J/Pilot.
By the way, I dump my tanks upon leaving the campground, and then again upon my return home. Haven't had to pay a dump fee yet. - C_SchomerExplorerIt was already a royal PITA to get In and out of the Phx flying J so the day I had to pay to dump was the day I went home and put in my own dump. Craig

I thought this thread was about FlyingJ dumping a station. - dbatesExplorerOur local Love's started charging $5 about 2 years ago. I know that they had some abuse but it also costs a lot to have they’re tanks pumped or for public sanitation. I like to have my black & gray tanks empty when parked at home. Love is convenient and their fuel price is usually the same or less than all other local gas stations.
