FMCA

I just spent a few minutes checking and it appears to have not been mentioned on this forum
The FMCA is considering opening membership to all RV types.
The discussion over on the FMCA forum is, interesting.

Numbers are not dropping like a rock. Actually there is an increase in membership.

    ..

It all depends on what date you compare from
Pick the right date, and it's bad, or great.

But long term, the membership is decreasing and increasing in age. A combination that is not going to be good.

What I'm uncertain of is their cash-flow, if they aren't bringing in more then they are spending.....

Don't see it happening. I think most of its members are 55 and older, i`m guessing the average age in the mid 60`s . the average RV trailer owner is in their 30`s and 40`s. 2 completely different groups.

Per their own stats, 10 years ago it was 65, today the average age is 71.

Increasing age is not a good demographic.

My point exactly. I don't think hey would like members with kids, since they usually stay where kids aren't welcome (55 and over parks!) ;)
  • FMCA is pretty unique among the RV clubs - because it is owned by the members, not owned as a for profit branch of a corporation.

Things which might bother a corporate board don't bother the FMCA membership.

I'm sure FMCA though does have one commmon point with other RV clubs - that only a very small portion of the membership is active in the organization.

Opening up the membership isn't going to change FMCA rallies, group gatherings, etc.

To the poster saying we should sack the president, well that happens in July.

To those members that do not want towables, watch for a ballot in your Sept, Oct, and Nov magazine. If the governing board accepts the changes to the articles of incorporation, yo will see a ballot. You have to vote to be counted! The ballot has to be sent to the correct address to be counted.

As written right now, FMCA could accept a boat, a motorcycle, seado for membership. The wording is "recreation vehicle" which applies to just about anything.

    VOTE!

No - he said "the membership would PROBABLY sack the president"
    (not "should").

IMO - your "intent" is showing! (ROTFL)

No matter how the wording is written......if it has a hood, it ain't no good - and this towable owner doesn't want anything to do with FMCA, now -OR- when I owned (two) MHs previously.

First Ward Chgo (FMCA) politics = Vote early and vote often!!

    :C
