I pass on pot lucks. Also, almost all buffets. Back in the 1970's my Dad, and his FL friends, used to call these eateries, hog troughs.
I know an RV'er that uses deer meat in his pot luck dishes. He tells no one. Deer meat is not federally inspected and the slaughter facilities are not under federal inspection.
