I never quite understood the "I'll bring food for others to eat, but I'll only eat my own food" concept for potlucks.
If you're not eating others' food because of health issues, then I think that's one thing. But, if it's just because you don't trust others' food, then it seems to say "Go ahead and eat what I made, because I am clean, but I won't eat what you made, because you are dirty." I think in that case it's better to skip the event all together or eat before you go and show up a bit late after folks have eaten.
