Although I mentioned it earlier, I'll restate it -
I'm not a germaphobe, or paranoid about my fellow camper's cooking habits. Instead, I just get grossed-out when thinking about potlucks and restaurant buffets. Does that mean I never eat at either one - no. As I teach my kids - you don't have to be a paranoid nut, but it's wise to be cautious (that applies to most things in life.)
It's just a good habit to wash your hands after using the bathroom, keep your kitchen, dishes and utensils clean and make sure foods are stored and cooked at proper temperatures. As long as these basics are covered, I'm pretty comfortable.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of hand sanitizers and all these over-the-top "anti-bacterial" products either. Shoot, now even shoes, socks and other clothing are being made with anti-bacterial features. Why? I thought washing the clothes was enough????
On the other end of the spectrum, if we follow the beliefs of some - - if we could just get exposed to a few good doses of botulism, listeria, salmonella and sprinkle in a bit of bubonic plague, ebola, etc., our immune systems will get tough enough for us to survive forever! NOT! And that is a definite, NOT!
Hey, what's for lunch?
