If you want to attend, I think the very best solution is for you to fix a dish to pass/ serve to everyone and then you take your own food when you go thru the line. Many times there are also breads/desserts from a bakery, fresh fruit and vegetable trays, cheeses etc that you could also eat without fear the your neighbor prepared them in a less than desirable way.
