Personally, I'm not a big fan of hand sanitizers and all these over-the-top "anti-bacterial" products either. Shoot, now even shoes, socks and other clothing are being made with anti-bacterial features. Why? I thought washing the clothes was enough????
I think the whole hand sanitizer and anti-bacterial craze has very little to do with health improvement.
It is at it's core a glorious example of capitalism and marketing in action. Create a need, in this case fear is driving the need, and fulfill the people's wishes for products and services that meet the need. It matters little if the fear/need is real or perceived, because as we know perception is reality.
You absolutely nailed it! As a retired RN, I've done and investigated the anti-bacterial thing and found it useless. Have found the promulgators of such rich. That appears to be the only benefit to anyone.
