  • I always whine and cry about our Pennsylvania winters. When I think about everyone farther north, our winters don't seem so bad. :)
  • The only reason we winterized at our seasonal campground is because the water's been turned off. We just bring 3 gallon water jugs and refill from the clubhouse. Still use the toilet and will until it's freezing. Even then, we mix antifreeze and water down to about 0 degrees.

Granted, this is in a park model dumping into a 500 gallon holding tank, so it's not *quite* the same :) We have in the past done some fall camping before, using RV antifreeze in the toilet/tanks.
  • What is this "WINTERIZING" you speak of. Why do you stop camping when the temps drop to seasonal lows. Why do you put that minus sign in front of temperature numbers.

If I wanted cold temps today I'd go to Buffalo where it will only be 80 degrees today. After all that is normal for Rose Parade viewing.

I guess we can't all live in the Los Angeles Basin(also called the Mojave desert west).
  • Well, I'm feeling the pain. I'm in Montana and last week there was a minus 2 degree reading just north of us.
  • Not yet! The forecast calls for 80 here in Buffalo, NY!
  • I winterize the first week of December, using my B for hunting and Thanksgiving travel.
  • Not yet ! I'm in one of the coldest parts of Canada...we are still using the RV to go hunting and shooting at one of our northern farm properties.

I won't worry about winterizing until the daytime highs stop reaching 41f and the night time lows are below 23f.

The latent daYtime heat coupled witb enough thermal mass is enough to prevent freeze up.

Around November 15th we will start hitting the bone chilling -13s and stay that way until April/May
