I have a bracket mounted to the front jack. The American flag no longer need be lighted or taken down at night.
Could you please give a link to the updated US Flag Code? I haven't heard of any changes of late. As far as I know the Code states "the flag may be displayed 24 hours a day IF properly illuminated
during hours of darkness". 4 U.S.C. § 6(a). In other words, yes you may leave the flag up 24 hours a day, as long as you have a light on it during the night. My father has a solar light on his at night. That may be an option if one were boondocking.
Honestly, I'm just happy folks are displaying the flag. But as a current service member and combat veteran (which I'm sure there are plenty of us on this forum) I would ask that the flag be displayed properly. Am I going to approach your campsite and make a big fuss about it? No. But I will walk by a bit disheartened and frustrated. One of these days you'll have to ask me about the time I almost knocked out a funeral home director over the flag draped over my Grandfather's coffin. (WWII Vet)
I apologize if I have offended anyone. That was not my intent. I just want to make sure the information being put across is correct. If I'm wrong and there has been a new update, please let me know.
