Then you are disrespecting the flag. I applaud your initiative but when you put out an American flag you take on a responsibility. Kind of like getting a puppy. You must take down the flag at night or light it .. It should also be taken down in inclement weather.
Ever been to a military facility? Retreat is the name of the ceremony that takes the flag down every night. You must stop your car during this time. If you are outdoors you must come to attention, face the flag, and render a hand salute. When the flag becomes tattered and worn it must be disposed of properly.
I spent 23 years of my life defending your right to fly that flag. I hate to see Old Glory displayed improperly.

Thankyou for your service, What do you think you spent 23 years of your life defending? You have defended my right to be an individual, you have defended my right to make choices and do things as I see fit. I fly the Flag for reasons that are my own, and I treat the Flag with the respect that is defined by me not by some law or by some person that thinks they know better. I don't salute the Flag when I wake up. I don't lower it on specific days, I have not spent 23 years in the service so of coarse I have a different relationship with the Flag that you do. As far as I am concerned anyone who makes an effort is OK in my book.....
