For those Who Monitor the Temperature in the Refridgerator

What type of Thermometer do you use and where do you place it? Also what kind of readings do you get? We have been RV'ing for a LONG time and I have NEVER been happy about the way the refrigerators...

My Norcold fridge has a diagnostic menu that you can get to by holding down "Temp Set" and "Mode" for a few seconds. One of the menu items shows the temperature of the sensor on the cooling unit..... Anything less than 22*, and I'm happy with how it feels in the freezer and fridge. My sensor fluctuates between 17* and 22*. If you open the door, you can see it go up a couple of degrees.

It's not an actual temperature reading inside the fridge or freezer, but I can easily tell if it's outside the norm at a glance.
