Found a definite cure for mice...

Back in late May, after I moved my rig to store it until the weather gets cooler, I unwittingly found a definitely cure for a mice problem.

Around Memorial Day, the Central Texas area not just had floods, but some twisters. One ripped through nearby, a few hundred feet from my rig, destroyed an entire section of chicken coops. Thankfully the birds were free-ranging, so none were killed.

Well, they promptly found shelter underneath my travel trailer and its gravel pad... promptly turning it into a place for egg laying.

Watching a hen pounce on a mouse also made me realize that the chickens are not as effective as cats... but they do get rid of critters.
  • Who would of thought of a chicken as being an effective mouse deterrent. Not surprising I guess as we all know mothers and how they will defend their own from whatever poses a threat.

  • We have a couple of Bob Cats (this ones about 20" tall) they control the mice, rats, etc. We also have a Feral cat that works for a living.
  • Cool. My cat brings me offerings all the time. She earns her keep.
