Four Down Fail

Not hard to believe with some of the Blue Ox mounting plates that suppose to attach and stay together, How do I know, I had the mounts rip apart on my Jetta when I came back from the east coast,wash board roads will do it every time, just constant shaking will let it come loose and then bang its gone. If I had to do it again I would have to think hard about buying Blue Ox or totally rebuild their mount before putting it on with their plans, Just my thoughts.

One more picture. Today in better light before leaving I did see two very distinct tire drag marks that lined right up with that car. It appears to me it was in park for it's short life that morning.

No, look close, it is the splash guard that is in the wheel well.

Look like that to me also.

I bet that front end has been stressed, jerked, twisted, pulled at from every direction possible for who knows how many miles.
What do you think, left in gear??, steering wheel locked?

Just a guess as to what would wear all the tread off a tire, if indeed that is what we see.

Sadly I'm hear to tell you you 'can' drag it with the brake on. It wouldn't take the front end off!

The last picture seems to show the metal base of frame fatigued and broke???
Actually it looks more like the base plate was attached to only the bumper. Hope it wasn't his very own DIY installation.

Based on these limited pictures it's impossible to tell exactly what failed. I can say something doesn't look correct about the front frame horns of the vehicle. It appears the vehicle frame horns fractured instead of the base plate failing, however there is not enough photo evidence to determine what happened one way or the other.

The left front tire is bald, shredded and appears flat. I bet the car was towed with the transmission in park. Eventually, the base plate mounting could not handle the extra stress of dragging the car!
