Free Camping in Connecticut

Has anyone used the free camping at the Connecticut welcome center Exit 2 off 84E
  • According to Free Campsites, there is also a park & ride lot a couple of exits away (probably 8 or 9) that also allows overnights and has no trucks.
  • Thanks w4phj, that's just what I was looking for. A safe overnight stop to split up our trip.
  • Yes. Excellent overnight parking. Water, dump and satellite friendly. Overnight security and separate RV as well as separate truck parking.
  • Never heard of it being open for camping or overnighting, but then it's close to home so I wouldn't need it for such anyway. They did/do have a dump station. The last time I stopped there the parking area was under construction of some sort. There is a truck/RV parking area just past the restroom building.

  • Check out this website for free camping info. It's pretty good.
