FREE WOODALLS--AAA

Went to AAA for some maps and was offered Woodall's camping directories. They were regional for all areas of the country and Canada. Comes with the road service (Gold Card)
Never realized they had them for free.
  • I get my free updated Woodall's on my iPhone/iPad app. A 2nd free one has all the Good Sam Campgrounds.
  • AAA used to print their own. They stopped the duplication and now hand out Woodall's as you observed.

I know it's part of a package you pay for. I pay for a lot of stuff with their membership--maps, towing, passport photos, emergency service, Travel interruption insurance, plus a few other things--I just didn't know this was included.
Some others might have not known this too.

I just found out about it this summer, I requested some "camping booklets" and they came out with these instead. seems to me that they are the same as getting them from Woodalls.
and yes, nothing is "free". I was always amused by folks telling me that their car came with some extras "standard". yep standard at an increase in list price. :s

  • AAA does offer some nice paper maps. Not meaning to throw water on the campfire but: The directory is not "really free" as you paid for it in fees, otherwise you might get the service for less. Is it a comprehensive camping guide? Previous AAA camping guides omitted a significant number of campsites...especially non-member campsites. I just received the Southern California AAA contract (my son is till a member...he only has a car) and even with the RV supplement service is questionable. When not in an area that has RV coverage you may have to pay up front and submit the bill for "acceptable reimbursement". Just saying.
