You've heard a page of the same thing, but the 5 between LA and San Diego is not the place to be at any time. The traffic and problems are tha same and maybe worse in OC, but when that road breaks on the coast there is nowhere to bail. Go the extra distance and use the 15. Just be aware that the average speed is close to 80, and thats equally as stressful if thats not what you want to do.
BTW- To the general statement above that THE drivers are rude, please note that more than 75% of the population relocated here from elsewhere in the US (and Mexico). So its not US drivers that are rude and dont know how to drive, its the rest of you'alls friends and relatives moving here that are the major contributors. And once they're properly trained and retire, we send em' back where they came from to ravage the roads of America... :)
