When we were out there we towed or 38' fiver up from SD to (or Thru) LA several times. And a couple of times at rush hour, although I tried to avoid rush hour, as much as possible.
I found that I really had to adjust my attitude in order to make it work for me. Rather than get PO'd at the drivers, I would stay alert and laugh at their STUPID antics. This is a trick I developed from driving around Boston. Or any other big city for that matter.
But when I adjusted MY attitude, it made the drive much better for me. Yeah...you are not going to get there fast...so just understand and accept that.
And also think that when you get to where you are going, that it will likely be the greatest (or funnest) place in the USA. You see, I also love the beauty of the state of California. And dealing with the drivers is just one price you have to pay.
