Fridge-Fix?

I currently use one of those small recirculating fans that uses two D cell batteries to keep air moving in my refrigerator. I think it helps, but it always ends up getting crammed behind stuff on the shelf or getting covered up, so I am looking at the Fridge-Fix as a permanent solution.

Has anybody ever seen or installed one of these? If so, can you comment on it, please?

Thank you,

Bruce

  • While that is a nifty fan design and a price to boot, this is the original Fridge Fan that I purchased from Ebay in 2008. They were the first and are produced by a fellow RVer. I'm not sure about the other imitators of the fridge fan on Ebay, but our unit has worked flawlessly for 6 years. Last year one of our kids force a can of soda against one of the fans by accident and broke a blade off of a single fan, a quick e-mail and a fan was shipped that same day for free.

Great service and with over 5000 fans sold they enjoy a 100% rating. We started with a small battery powered blue fridge fan from Camping World and it was somewhat effective, there is absolutely no comparison as this fan moves some serious air. Fridge temp stays stable no matter how often the door is opened, we would never be without one.

Just like anything else on Ebay, there is some good quality product available, and then there is some garbage, looks the same but we know that can be deceiving. This is especially true when it comes to LED lighting, which is why when we did our LED conversion to our rig we came to this savvy bunch of RVers and purchased from an Ebayer highly recommended by this forum. To date all LEDs have been functioning without a single failure for 3 years.

I've had two different ones from ebay vendors and neither lasted a year. They first got noisy then one fan stopped. I was never convinced they did much anyway and I used a remote digital thermometer to monitor. I do like the looks of the fridge fix.

as do I. I bought a fan similar to the one shown by Bob213. it did nothing for cooling. well, that's not entirely true...somehow the temps in the fridge when that fan was running actually went UP. :h

a couple of troubleshooting tips from my RV mnechanic:

    - if you want to test your fridge to see if the cooling unit may be bad just remove the thermistor sensor from the fridge's cooling fins. that will make the fridge run full bore. if the cooling unit is working you should see temps start to fall. make note of the specific fin and place on that fin from where the thermistor was located so it can be returned to the same location.

    - on Norcold models (not sure about Dometic models) lower the thermistor on the fin if the fridge is running cold and raise it if the fridge is running warm.

  • We've had good luck with this one. Easy install, quick electrical connection and has an on/off switch for times you may not want the added electrical draw (like boondocking).

Bruce, I just started using the blue cube and was surprised at the difference it made. I have looked at the units you reference but found one on ebay I liked better. Next visit to trailer might include putting one in.

Can you provide a link to what you saw on eBay?

    Thanks,

I looked at it, Price is a bit much, looks like 2 muffin fans a box and a few LED's. not anything I'd pay 40 bucks for, 20 perhaps, but not much more.
