Frozen dump valves

I'm planning another snow trip & remember our last one I had freezing conditions & sure I could ad antifreeze to the fresh water tank & keep the bathroom door open to keep those pipes from freezing but what about the Dump valve outside?

I was wondering if my wives Blow dryer might be enough to thaw it out enough before trying to dump Or what other options I need to consider for this issue?

Thanks in advance.

ADDING ANTIFREEZE TO YOUR FRESH WATER TANK SHOULD *NOT* BE AN OPTION...:S..:(

I wouldn't recommend adding antifreeze (even RV antifreeze) to a fresh water tank .... if you aren't going to have water in the tank, just drain it .... if you need fresh water and the tank is exposed, pick up some gallon/5 gallon jugs, fill them and store them in the camper .... wrapping the valves in something like a blanket covered with something water proof may be all you need to keep them from freezing .... you can always add a light bulb in the covered area if you need some heat .... just be sure to take precautions so as there is no chance of a fire

Do NOT flush with windshield washer fluid.

Why would you reintroduce water into the lines when you are winterizing?

WE have used the wifes hair dryer for alot of thaw out routines...

Have also used the wife's nail emory board to clean electeical contacts as well...

A couple of reasons to have the wife around when camping hehe...

  • Should be, but what I would do is after dumping put a little antifreeze in the tank first and it will go down to the drain valve and should keep it from freezing, or put a lot of antifreeze in to mix with the contents. JMHO :)
