Perhaps us nice guys are the exception? It happens a lot. When I would pull into a fuel stop with my previous gas RV I would hold back far enough so that if the person at the pump decided to go for a picnic I could still swing out and find a different pump or station. With the diesel I look for truck stops without crowd and take the truck pump, fill and move off quickly.
