- paulcardozaExplorerIt's a vented tank for crying out loud! It won't collapse! Sheesh.......
- 4x4vanExplorer IIIIn theory, there should be no fear of "collapsing" the black tank by sucking the waste out, either through the toilet or through the dump valve; the roof vent should prevent that from happening. Perhaps the suction is so strong that it overpowers the ability of the roof vent?
I've had my black tank pumped (hooked up to my dump valve) a couple of times at Glamis; no issues whatsoever. That's all they (the honey wagons) do there (empty RV tanks) so perhaps they are well aware and use a reduced suction? - memtbExplorerbikendan, Thanks, I was thoroughly confused. I saw this exact post on another topic on the same day, and the post (standing alone), made no sense to me. I know that we are "heavily" monitored by the PC Police, and thought that something offensive had been said, and I was " too slow" to see the offense. Thanks again for attempting to "train" me!

Are you referring to the notorious 'poop pyramid'?
Yep plus you'd be suprised by the number of new RV's who say "I was not supposed to put that down there" - SidecarFlipExplorer IIIAre you referring to the notorious 'poop pyramid'?
- dfletchExplorerI have worked the "honey wagon" in the past and it's not a job I would want ever again. There was a time or two we had to go in the RV and pull through the toilet do to blockages but we used a smaller dia hose and always reduced the vacuum pressure. Using the bucket method was standard procedure for the outside and you'd be suprised how many people are getting no benefit from their vitamins. I even had a helpful owner hit the electric valve switch for his black tank before we were ready and I had to burn the pants and shirt I had on.

Has anyone ever had their black tank sucked out through the toilet?
:(
If you are contemplating using a residential septic company to empty your tank by one of their trucks don't.
The extreme power of those septic companies vacuums will collapse your rv black holding tank.
A profession septic tank company knows this and will not do it. You have to watch out for inexperienced drivers of these trucks.
If your valves are broke which is the reason you want to do it from the toilet? I would pay an rv mobile repair guy to come out and fix them for you.
AND even then it should NOT be emptied from the valve hookup by a residential sewer company vacuum either.
At our sporting events we 'do' have a commercial sewer pumping truck come out to dump our tanks. BUT they put a bucket under the black tank valve and one guy opens the RV valve to let it come out in the bucket and the other guy sticks the trucks vacuum into the bucket. They never hook up to an RV black tank.
