Ran into a similar problem in Texas. We had 2 spots for 4 nights with family over the 4th. I paid for the sites months before and when I got to the park to check in I was informed that I had to buy a per day pass for each adult or $28 per adult or about $280 for the whole thing. I asked where on their state website it stated that and they said it wasn't. I said I have no problem paying any fee if I know in advance. Now I know why the site was only $25 per night. We also couldn't buy ice or firewood because they didn't sell it at the park. I said why don't you just raise your daily rates to say $32 to $35 per night and include the adult use fee in it like Washington State does. The rangers response was that would be too difficult to do and as for firewood and ice they would need an outside vendor to do. I asked what does your park workampers do? Answer: Oh they clean up and tend to sites. Oh so having them sell wood would be too difficult for them and too hard for the rangers to have an ice box to sell ice from would be too difficult for them to manage. It made so sense to me. Seems to work great in Washington State. Must have smart workampers here.
