In New York, if you are camping there is no extra parking or park entrance fee per vehicle. You are allowed 2 vehicles per campsite. They give you a permit to hang from your mirror and it has the last day of your camping written with sharpie so the gate attendant can see it. While you are camping, the permit allows you into any state park for free.
I haven't camped this year, but the local state parks last year charged $25 per day for an electric site. i think it was a little cheaper during the week ($21 per day maybe) versus $25 for weekends.
The state parks are one of the very few well-run inexpensive state amenities in New York State. I guess the super-high taxes do fund some useful things here!
