If ratings matter to them, they'll run out of payload quickly with a family of 6 in a 2500 or 3500 that's 2012 or older. The 2012 and earlier payload numbers for the Megacab were appalling. I wanted one when we were shopping in 2011/early 2012, but couldn't get past the limited payload or idea of a short bed truck.
My 2017 has 3900 lb of payload.
It's ok, ependydad is a charter member of the weight police.
Would be interesting to hear why he thinks a 2012 or earlier runs out of payload so much quicker than a 2013 and up. (Yes I understand what changed between the 3rd Gen chassis and the 4th gen chassis in 2013/2014.)
