While gas prices vary considerably across the country, here in Alberta we are presently paying about 66.4 cents per liter at Costco. That's in Canadian currency. If you are thinking of travelling to Canada, your much stronger U.S. dollar will buy 1 US Gallon (3.785 liters) for US$1.82, based on the present price at Costco. US Dollar is presently at CDN$1.38.Of course, everything else you buy comes with a bonus of about 38 cents on the dollar, too. Maybe this is the year to visit us in Canada?

There is very little that you can't bring in!!For instance the 250 KG (551 lbs) per person of fresh fruits and vegetables you can bring with you should last for an extended visit. I am looking at our trip to the Maritimes with the favourable exchange rate as a little bit of "pay back" for when we had one of our kids in a Canadian college. At the time the CDN$ was stronger than the USD$.

Watching the fuel prices but will still fillup before entering Canada & return to US with enough fuel to reach first fuel station.

Because of a high State fuel tax, we pay more in Washington State than many US states. Our local Safeway is around $1.80 and Costco about $1.73.

It's only about 55 miles to the Canadian border from the Burlington Costco. We see scores of Canadian-registered cars in the parking lot, people loading many gallon cartons of milk then going to the Costco gas station. Unfortunately for some, Costco does not sell diesel.

Those folks are coming from Vancouver area where gas prices are probably 30 to 40 percent more than most places in Canada. Think its a combinations of special transpo taxes and other stuff. Prices are close to 3 bucks a gallon US there. Most of Canada is down around 2 bucks a gallon US.

Costco does sell diesel, and is bringing it in to selected locations. Ak and ID and some wa stores sell it. Not sure about the rollout but I hope it everywhere.
The western provinces DO NOT allow any fresh meat produce or dairy. They will confiscate it at the border.

Now, there is a section of Open Roads Forum called RVing in Canada and Alaska. It's http://forums.woodalls.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/listings/forum/65.cfm. Why the moderators in General RVing hold onto threads about Canada in their section drives me up the wall.

I'd like to suggest that you to over to RVing in Canada and Alaska and start a thread on where you might visit in PEI and Nova Scotia. Include some idea of the things you like to see and do.
