General RV Center

We are thinking about getting a new TT and recently visited General RV Center in
Jacksonville,FL. We found a floor plan we liked and talked to a salesman who offered
what I considered a Fair deal.

My question is has anyone here had any dealing with this Dealer. I think they are a small chain of family owned dealerships. Please anyone with any dealings with this
dealership, good or bad I would appreciate hearing your feed back ???

Thanks,

  • Birdhunter,

Sure did notice where you live (Georgia) but your comment of "small chain of family owned dealerships" needed a little help! I also posted info for others knowledge too in my 2 posts. General RV is a very big business and still growing fast. We haven't purchased any of our many new RV's from General because they didn't carry to brands we purchase or want and there are so many dealers here in the Midwest and General is only one of them. Few people actually know how huge the RV industry is and that most of the entire Worlds RV industry and production is right here in the USA with 83% of that being in the Elkhart, IN area and that's where your new RV will most likely have been made.
  • Travelnutz,
Did you notice where I live ??

Thanks everyone for taking the time to respond. Nice to know we picked a good
    RV dealership,by pure accident :~))

Looks like there is a new Travel Trailer in our future !
  • General RV's Wayland, MI location in West Michigan is about 20 miles straight south of downtown Grand Rapids. Several big RV dealerships along that 20 miles and still a lot more in the local West Michigan area and all seem to have very happy customers and get very good reviews. The biggest RV dealer in size (Lakeshore RV) and also in RV's sold per year is at 4500 E. Apple Ave (M-46) a few miles east of Muskegon. Gobs of RV dealers in the whole local area since it's only about 100 miles north of the center of the Worlds RV building industry/corporations. Take your pic!
  • I bought from them from somewhere about half way up the east side of lake Michigan.

am pleased as punch with the buy and the support after.

Like BIll. I started with them when I had a PUP (Which I bought direct from the prior owner) and needed stuff, Back then it was a little store (General Trailer) in, as I recall Ferndale, MI. (north side of 8Mile Rd).

Bought my Class A from them like 30 years later. Still go to them for some stuff.

Service.. Well.. I have a few complaints, but they are minor. Mostly they have to do with Dometic 'Fridge and the drip tube. Read the owner's manual if you get a rig with Dometic fridge. Not a bit thing but ..

IF your RV comes with a Norcold, this problem can not exist.
  • I've dealt with General RV since they were a one store operation over on 8 Mile Road. Now they have about 10 stores around the country. In fact next year they are opening a $34,000,000.00 facility across the highway from their main office in Wixom, Michigan.

Like any dealer negotiate the price- their service I've found is very satisfactory.
    Happy trails,
  • Thanks bsinmich,
Our salesman said he worked for them in their Mich store and transfered to the
    Jax store.
  • I have bought 2 Class As from them The first was in Wixom. MI and the second in Wayland, MI. after we had moved across the state of Mich. Both times the sales & service was great. I had a minor problem and they said to bring it back. They fixed it while I waited, no charge. These were both 3 year old coaches when I bought so there was no warranty.
