You don’t need to sanitize the pump handle before you touch it. Sanitize your hands afterwards. Use gloves if you want, but even that is not necessary if you will wash your hands afterwards.
Some thought should be given to what is going to happen if everyone starts going through dozens of plastic gloves a day just because you need to touch some public surface when the most effective means of protecting yourself and others it to wash your hands with soap and water.
Frequent hand washing is even more effective than frequent use of hand sanitizer.
