Well the patch test confirmed that I am allergic to Cobalt and Nickel both of which are found in the Chromium knee they put in. For the last 6 months my body has been rejecting the new knee which explains why it never got better. The good news is the metal sensitivity mimics an infection and my surgeon now believes that there is an 80% chance of no infection just the wrong metal. There is a Titanium knee in my future but the VA doesn't have any laying around and the only manufacturer is not under contract with the VA. :S
Once my doc can track one down I am at the top of the waiting list for surgery but it looks to be 4 to 6 weeks before that is going to happen. ARRRG! :M
