Getting a New Generator in Fort Meyers or Tampa?

Question about the drill trick.

The automatic transfer switch defaults to generator or shore power or no connection?

Because if I run the generator and try the drill trick, it won't work unless the power transfer switch makes a connection.

I'll try Tampa Cummins since Fort Myers isn't responding
