There is a lot of praise for the "Q" here and it is a good grill. BUT it does have some serious shortcomings if you are a serious cook that wants to do more than just grill burgers, chops and hot dogs.
I was originally going to take my big 4 burner grill with me fulltiming but ended up selling it because I didnt have time to get the storage area at the rear of the trailer ready in time for our departure. So after much thought and research I did buy the Q2000.
While it is good at many things it does not get hot enough to do steaks at over 700 degrees. And the other drawback is that it has only one burner. So cooking things that need indirect heat isnt really possible.
I grill a lot of vegetables along with steaks and getting asparagus, artichokes and Red Peppers for two along with two good sized steaks all on the grill surface is a challenge.
So for an all around burger and brat or chicken pieces grill it's ok. But if you want to turn out a slow roasted truly juicy full chicken that's another matter.
The biggest drawback is that it is designed to work with those throw-away camping gas canisters that are an environmental disaster. This forces you to buy a separate gas hose to be able to use a regular Propane can. This is one thing Weber should change for sure. It should come with the Hose for a real propane tank and let those who want to use the throw away cans buy the adapter.
It depends alot on how you cook whether you will be as happy as some of the responders here with the weber q.
Q's are not really intended to cook whole chickens but they DO a great job of cooking NewYork steaks!
Sounds like your regulator needed to be adjusted. I over cooked several steaks and burgers before I got used to how hot my Q cooked compared to my previous grill.
