I agree with Mr.Mark. Fortunately, in Washington State, we don't get hurricanes at all and tornadoes are fairly rare. In the 45 years we've lived here, we've had 4 earthquakes. Three of them were relatively mild and one was quite noticeable. That one did some damage in Seattle and Bellevue, but nothing really bad. Since we moved to Anacortes in 1998, I don't think there has been one.
The only other possible "gotcha" is an eruption of one of our dormant volcanoes. One (Mount St. Helens) awakened briefly and did quite a lot of damage in the area close to it. Damage was minimal elsewhere. Mount Baker is the closest to us, about 60 miles away and about 9000' high. The biggest one is Mount Rainier, at around 14,000' but we're over 100 miles from that one.
I reckon if you can say "What was that noise?" you'll probably be fine. One widespread problem is ash clouds that can cause engine damage if you drive through them.
