Global Expedition Vehicle

Last week I took the Suzi in to a local garage to have new wheel studs installed in the left front hub. The dealer we bought it from had new tires installed and the lugs were torqued to either 140 or 165 ft lbs and two stripped out removing them. The owner is an off road adventurer and has parked his Unimog based RV at the garage. I wanted to see if it was possible to look inside. They fascinate me and thinking of a guy my age driving around in one of these boggles my mind. Much to my disappointment when I got there and it was gone, traded off and replaced with a Global Expedition Vehicle (model unknown) in it's place.

The new roamer style RV is on a Ford 550, SD, Lariat chassis. That is one sweet looking rig. Gene wasn't there so I couldn't look inside but the exterior fit and finish is beautiful. Maybe he'll be in this week and I can get some pics to post.

In the mean time, it's back to trying to keep the old Bounder looking like it's only 8 or 10 years old instead of 23.5 years old.

  • I have seen several of these rigs and have always wondered what sort of Mileage they get. With those enormous Tires and 4WD they can obviously get to places that My Dutch Star won't be going!
