I have been looking at the chevy version of these trucks. Real world payload numbers on short bed crew cab LT models has been around 2300 lbs on diesel and around 2900 lbs on gas. You can tow some lighter 5 ers but the 3500 will net you some more payload. If you go gas make sure you get the 4.10 rear and HD trailering package.
