- Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIDo you ever fly, camp at higher elevations, hike in the mountains, get X-rays?
- I grew up 2 miles from Three Mile Island in PA. I already glow in the dark. :B

"Uranium ore contains natural (unenriched) uranium which emits relatively low amounts of radiation," Erickson said. "Given the extremely low reading (zero above background) 5 feet away from the bucket, I'm skeptical there could be any health hazards associated with visiting the exhibit."
Zero above background radiation... - AirdaileExplorerPresumably they looked up the non-occupational limit for ionizing radiation (0.1 rem/year) but didn't put it in the article because CNN watchers don't care about actual facts.

Facts on CNN? What are those :B
My question would be why in a decade no one took the garbage out or who is just shuffling 5 gallon buckets around. - eubankExplorerTHe concern was for employees and interns, not visitors. Read to the end of the article.
I'm not too concerned for them, though. I was exposed to a lot of radiation on a daily basis for two months running. The cancer tumor that was growing rapidly is now dead meat. Sure, there was some residual damage to nearby organs, but I'm alive and kicking six years later, and the only "medication" I take for it now is Metamucil.
:)

- ppineExplorer IIOne plane ride about 30,000 feet is much worse. A chest x-ray is worse. A lower GI series with barium is much worse. We are all exposed to low amounts of radiation from space all the time.
I was recruited once to become the environmental manager for the mine that produced that uranium. No way in Hell would I ever want that job. - Johno02ExplorerPeople hiking in the canyon probably get a lot more radiation from the sun..
- ParkCountryExplorerThe article says that rad levels were "above background". Until someone actually Quantifies just what those levels are, this story is nothing but Click bait designed to draw in an audience, causing undue anxiety.
