And that's why I posted this. We tried other repair places as we traveled - but they didn't want to deal with an RV.
And yes, from now on the trailer gets checked for ALL lights EVERY time (smack forehead). Assuming that since the markers lights came on, means everything's hunky-dory, is wrong.
Also - our 2012 F-350 has a pretty sophisticated towing brake computer system. According to the dashboard display, the trailer was "properly connected". I guess it knows if there's a short on the trailer side (or if the brake is malfunctioning) - but it didn't pick up on separated wires that apparently weren't shorting out.
