Gray Water Tank ?

I tried searching with no luck.

Do y'all add anything to the gray water tank? I add stuff to the black water tank for odor control and to help break things down but never the gray water. Sometimes I will get a bad smell in the camper and wonder if it's coming from the gray water tank, usually after a long drive is when I notice it the most.
  • If you have an odor, weather from the gray or black tank, you don't need to add chemicals, you need to fix the problem that's causing the odor. Adding chemicals is just masking the odor and is just wasting money.

Before you travel, put a little liquid laundry detergent down the toilet and several gallons of water. The swishing will clean the inside of the tank. You can also do this to the gray tank. A little Calgon water softener added to each will coat the inside of the tank and make it more difficult for solids and other stuff to stick.

    Good luck

  • Never.

If you are getting smell inside, something is wrong with the system or your traps need water in them. The system is vented to the outside through the roof.
  • I add some bleach a few times a season but if all of your traps (sinks and shower) are full and working correctly, you should not get odor from the grey tank.
