Hello all - I am in the hunt for a new/newer trailer with larger gray tank capacitites as well as 50 gallons of water.I am looking for something in the 27-30' range with a GVWR at or below 8k, bunkhouse stype with a slideout. Also want to be in a fiberglass unit. It seems like alot of the units I am running accros have 50 gallon water capacity but the gray takes are around 35 gallons, as is the blank tanks. We do alot of dry camping so water and gray capacities are important. Many toy haulers have large tanks and the toy area can act as a bunkhouse.

JMO but tank capacity is highly overrated as in almost every case you're not going to have enough anyway to last an entire trip, whether it's fresh, grey, or black. With large capacity tanks, particularly fresh, you're also going to be towing far more weight than is necessary. The key instead is to have a means of getting more fresh water and transferring it into the trailer's FW holding tank efficiently, off loading grey water anytime you want, and off loading black water if necessary. All are entirely possible, you just have to decide which methods would work best for you. For me, I long ago settled on a set of inexpensive 7 gal Aquatainers for retrieving fresh water and a potable water pump for transferring it later into the trailer tank. I also have a few other 'Tainers marked for grey / black water use and most often just off load grey water by gravity but use my FloJet Waste Macerator pump to macerate & off load black water if it's ever necessary into those same GW/BW containers which I can then empty at my convenience. Using this method our trailer's 30 gal tanks offer plenty of capacity. Pics are in my gallery. :)

We have a Heritage Glenn bunkhouse, with 2 38 Gallon grey tanks. The one for the bathroom fills up first, but they both use the same dump connection. I can put a cap on it, and open both, and it will equalize, and you get another shower before it fills back up.You'd think on bunkhouses, they would give you a little bigger tank for the shower. People buy bunk houses because they have kids, and kids camping definately need showers.We camp lots of places with water and electric, but most sites where we do don't have sewer.

Lance 2185 comes close to what you're looking for. Fresh water and gray water capacities are 45 gallons.

I think my teenage daughter fills about half of one of our tanks washing her hair :) She has alot of hair.

I off load my single 30 gal grey tank daily whether it needs it or not, a technique that's proven to work well for me as I also retrieve more fresh water at the same time. With just the two of us my single 30 gal black tank I rarely off load but can should the need ever arise using my FloJet Waste Macerator & 7 gal GW/BW waste water Aquatainers. Simple solution that works well and I don't have to fool around with a stinky slinky or heavy wheeled tote tank. :B

Dump gray on the ground and tank size is of little importance.

I almost always dump the dishwater down the toilet and "catch" some of the shower water for toilet flushing. This helps...I'm 25-25 in my TT.

Your right, in most places the fine or citation will suddenly have more importance than your tank size.
