Grey water dumping

As a previous poster had advised, several Geotgia State Parks have barrels filled with gravel buried every few sites marked grey water dump. At Cloudland Canyon, we, along with several others used 5/8" hoses to drop our grey.

Funny thing is, I can tell how about 80% of you are going to vote in the next presidential election just by reading the comments you post. :B

And THAT I would object to as I have on occasion arrived on a campsite only to find the previous occupant had done just that. :M Campsite ground surface is often quite hard from repeated compacting and if nothing else this practice leaves a wet mess for the next person to deal with. The much better alternative is to connect a length of garden hose to your trailer's sewer outlet and run it out to the foliage surrounding your site where grey water can easily disperse without affecting you or the next occupant of your site.

No absolutely not. And I would never take a leak out in the trees on the back of my property when I'm out walking the dog. I don't let him go either. I'm trying to train the deer to only go in a certain spot that will drain into the septic tank.

Wrap a piece of JCloth around the end of the drain hose and any food particles that may have made it into your grey water tank will be caught while allowing water to safely drain away into the foliage. Works well. :)

I've dumped it at home on my driveway a few times. The whole yard smelled of Irish Spring and 20 minutes later there was no sign of it on the drive.

Don't dump my gray tank at the campground but I do at my house every now and then. I just want to make sure its empty due to some of the dump stations I camp at are unlevel and not all of the water gets dumped. Usually on get about a gallon.

The reason that I do not drop gray on the ground is the food particles that will attract critters both big and small. Coons, fox and chitters are annoying but I do not want porcupines and bear in my campsite.

Ahhhhh, this subject again. Yep, right up there with traveling with propane on, and all the other subjects that RV folks will debate until the end of time. :)

I use a 25 gallon 4 wheel Barker tote tank for just this purpose. I just empty the RV's grey tank into the Barker tote tank, roll it over to car, tow it to dump station and dump away at dump station. Pretty simple and easy.

But I DO have to confess: Sometimes, when we're in more remote, rustic parks where there's nobody camping close by us, and I really don't feel like messing with the blue tote tank.....I *might* just 'accidentally' open the grey valve just a little bit, let it drip, sloooowly drain out on the ground. If you do a slow drain like that, most times there will be little or no stink, as ground will absorb it almost as fast as it drains out.

Ironically, using the tote tank can sometimes create more 'stink' than slow draining the grey water on the ground. WHy? When you dump your grey water down into the tote tank from the RV, you have to open an air vent on the tote tank to allow air in the tank to escape as water fills it. Guess what that air coming out smells like? It usually creates more grey water 'stink' than slow draining like I mentioned before. This is also why I try very hard to avoid using the tote tank for black water, the air coming out then can be REALLY bad, haha. :)
